When additional maths support can help

The Hardest Topic Is Not Always Where the Problem Began

Difficulties with algebra, percentages, equations or geometry can sometimes begin with an earlier gap in number facts, fractions, division or mathematical reasoning.

Falling Behind at School

Identify the prerequisite skills having the greatest effect on current school maths rather than trying to reteach everything at once.

Weak Foundations

Strengthen number fluency, multiplication, division, fractions and other foundations before later work becomes more demanding.

Maths Confidence

Start with manageable questions and clear explanations before gradually increasing difficulty.

Memorising Without Understanding

Learn why a method works and when to use it rather than only copying a worked example.

Homework Taking Too Long

Work on question interpretation, organised working and selecting an appropriate mathematical method.

Assessment Preparation

Review relevant topics, work through suitable exam-style questions and target areas that need additional practice.

Find a useful starting point

Start With a Free 45-Minute Tutor Assessment

Before regular tutoring begins, we can discuss the student's current difficulties and use suitable maths questions to identify a practical starting point.

1

Discuss the Concern

Tell us the student's year level, current topics, recent difficulties and tutoring goals.

2

Check Understanding

Suitable questions help us explore what the student understands independently.

3

Check Prerequisites

We step back where necessary to see whether an earlier skill is affecting the current topic.

4

Discuss the Next Step

We explain a sensible starting point and whether online or local face-to-face tutoring appears most practical.
