Year 1 Maths Test NSW FAQs
Why are number bonds to 10 important?
They help children see number relationships and support later mental addition and subtraction.
Is 28 + 9 too difficult for Year 1?
It is an extension-style question. Children can use a number line or make a ten, and the result should be treated diagnostically.
Should my child complete all 30 questions at once?
No. Two shorter sessions can work better for many Year 1 students.
