Understanding the OC Test (Year 4 Entry to Year 5)
NSW OC & Selective Tests: The Opportunity Class (OC) Test is taken by Year 4 students seeking entry into Year 5. OC classes are designed for academically gifted students and are offered in 76 government primary schools across NSW.

Understanding the Selective School Test (Year 6 Entry to Year 7)
Year 6 students take the Selective High School Placement Test for entry into Year 7.
- Timing: Held annually in March, with additional selective school places available later in Years 8–11.
- Schools: NSW has 17 fully selective schools, 25 partially selective schools, and 4 selective agricultural schools (e.g. James Ruse Agricultural High, ranked #1 in the state).
